Give Peace a Chance

For the past 11 days, my husband and I have been frantically preparing to move to a new home, after 20 years in this one. I have packed away all of my supplies except for a few basics in an attempt to focus every waking moment on the task at hand. (We move in 2 weeks.)
When I saw this week's challenges, I was truly touched. I imagined a Zentangle prayer shawl going up across the planet, with wishes for peace. I couldn't imagine that I would have a minute to sit down and actually draw, but my thoughts were with our community as pens touched paper and outlined our need for peace.
And then there was a lull in our moving frenzy, so I picked up my own pen and paper. I almost immediately lost Organic, but moved to drawing Mooka, which always soothes me.
After I finished, I went to post my tile, but encountered some tech difficulties. I decided to wait, or maybe even just let it go.
Then I learned about the massacre in Nice. More violence. More hatred. More innocent victims. Children.
This morning, I had to connect with someone. And here I am. Thank you for the peace that you always offer, through Zentangle, through your stories, through your friendship.
Peace.

  1. I love the way your organic really looks as though it is winding in and out. Yes, Nice is terrible, and that was with a Lorry! How can such a small percentage of people cause such havoc. Hope the rest of your move goes ok.

  2. Lovely work and beautiful sentiment. I love how this art that we all do and the community that inspires us is such a comfort in these very troubling times. Sending out good move juju;-)

  3. So sad what is happening, all over the world, every day again so much violence...
Thank you for your nice words and your nice tile!

  4. When we as individuals are striving towards our own inner peace through drawing and creation, it feels so wrong that there are others whose focus is destruction. I know all these people feel justified in what they are doing but, Oh how I wish they would pick up a pen instead of a weapon. Enough of that. I love your peace tile, the way it flows and entwines.

  6. Thank you for finding the time to post your response to my peace challenge. We did a move/downsize last month so I know how very stressful and discombobulating it is. To me, your tile beautifully symbolizes the interconnectedNess of all things which is why we must grant each other Peace.

  8. Yes, unfortunately peace seems further away all the time. I can hardly bare to look at the news. Let us try to spread peace around us, that's all we can do. BTW, I like your tile. Hope your move is going smoothly (is that the right word for it?).
