Let's all be ZenDivaDala!

Diva Challenge #230: Create a zendala using the given template.
A zendala template is a mandala, the Sanskrit word for "circle", filled with tangle patterns. These are always challenging for me, and I am noticing that when something is challenging, I usually respond by seeing how much more I can push myself outside of my comfort zone. (This only applies to my zentangle journey! Otherwise, I'm a wimp!) I decided to do the zendala on a black tile. I started with Printemps (a little shaky!), then added Eke, ING, Bales and Swarm. To reward myself, I shaded with soapstone or zenstone. (I love the buttery feel.)
Thanks to the guest blogger and Zendala Diva herself, Erin Olson, CZT, for this challenge!

  1. I do like this zendala and the shading around it.

  2. The hazy effect created by the Zenstone really sets off the delicate lines in the pattern. This is a lovely piece of work.

    1. White on black is tricky for me, but, if I let it, it slows me down! You should have a whirl at it! But not too fast!

  5. Hello Jennifer! I totally understand how you feel about Zendalas. I have pushing myself out of my comfort zone and trying to do Erin's weekly Zendala Dare challenge, just to get myself past this fear of them. I think because there is so much more work to them than a a regular tile. Anyways, the outcome is always surprising!! You did an awesome job on your zendala. And not only were you courageous in doing one, I have to give you even more points for doing it on a black one. Wow, that is courageous!!( Another one of my discomforts, working on a black tile) You did a great job! Thank you for leaving a bit of sunshine on my blog! :0) Annette

    1. Thank you, LonettA! With the summer heat here in North Carolina, it's nice to think of snowflakes!

  8. Nothing wimpy about this! It has a mysterious ancient feel to it. I love how the Zenstone glows around the edges. This is the first time I have seen anyone use Eke in a design, and it looks great here on black. Wonderful!
